Our lodging at the Africa Centre for Holistic Management (ACHM) affords us exclusive, private access to seemingly endless and pristine habitat; harboring everything from black mambas, pythons, chameleons and Snouted Cobras, to Pixie Frogs and White-throated Monitors- not to mention the iconic megafauna which is so entangled with the landscape itself that the balanced perfection of ecological systems in such a region is obvious even to the most untrained of eyes.
Through the implementation of different wildlife-tracking tactics (such as day and night hiking, road-cruising, flipping, and community outreach.), we will inoculate ourselves deeply into the surrounding environment of Sub-Saharan Africa for the first 5 days of the trip. We will aim to view, photograph, and safely enjoy the wonders of the region, supported by experienced guides and incredible accommodations. Prepare for: Highly venomous snakes, warm and welcoming locals, food you’ve never heard of that tastes better than you ever knew possible, and up-close encounters with African elephants, lions, cobras, and giraffe- among a myriad of other flora and fauna, some of which we guarantee you never knew existed!
Halfway through the trip, we will transfer to into an entirely new region of the country, Zimbabwe’s Honde Valley in the Eastern Highlands. As we move away from dry and brittle savannahs, you will notice greenery taking over. After a day of flying and driving, we will find a new home at the upscale Aberfoyle Ecolodge, Zim’s best place to spot the cryptic Gaboon viper. Other targets here include the forest cobra, twig snake, boomslang, and green mamba.
Don’t sweat the details! We’ll be coordinating everything with you up until the day everyone converges.
