“Serpentine Expeditions sets the standard on travel. The educational aspects, the incredible people I met that became lifelong friends, and the experiences I had went beyond just a trip. You’ll grow so much closer to the natural world, and get unforgettable experiences with wildlife.”
-Max
“I cannot recommend Serpentine Expeditions enough. This is no typical touristy group and that’s what I love the most. You are immersing yourself out in the field and learning more than you imagined, all while having fun and making new friends. I had the time of my life with them in Zimbabwe and can’t wait to go with them on new adventures! …but beware of the gorilla…”

“as both an avid solo traveler and lifelong globetrotter; I can honestly say that traveling with serpentine was a thoroughly life changing experience. “group travel” often scares away the seasoned backpacker, though this was 10x more fun than I’ve had on my own in the past 20 years. It’s not group travel. this is empowerment through shared experiential learning. everything from the newfound lifelong friends, astounding wildlife encounters and breathtaking views, to unrivaled strategical planning with a dash of unpredictability- just wow.”
-Lucinda
“Indonesia had been on my bucket list forever and Sumatra surpassed any of my expectations. Traveling with Serpentine was truly a life changing experience. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would see orangutans in the jungle a few feet away from me or wild Sumatran elephants! Every day was a new experience that felt surreal. From my morning coffee to the night hikes, or just relaxing in a hammock, every day was something new to enjoy with incredible new friends. I already booked my next trip with Serpentine!”
-Mary ANN
“Serpentine Expeditions is like no other travel company out there. The expedition into the Amazon Rainforest of Peru was not just a trip; it was a genuine immersion into the jungle and into conservation adventure. The Serpentine team of guides and experts are the friendliest and funniest people you’ll ever travel with. They make sure to incorporate true adventure & thrill with educational moments and respect for the wonders of this planet. Plus, you will no doubt connect and make lifelong friends with other curious-minded travelers. I cannot recommend traveling with Serpentine enough, and I’m always keeping my eye on their upcoming trips…”

“We had a fantastic time with Serpentine on the 2025 Sonora, Mexico expedition. The snakes were abundant and amazing, with plenty of opportunity to observe and photograph. The tour guides were also fabulous and went above and beyond to ensure everyone’s enjoyment.”

“I have traveled with ian breland and Serpentine Expeditions to Suriname. Their tours have a focus on off the beaten path locations, a conservation focused initiative and engaging and working with local communities to support grassroots efforts. additionally, the local guides are first rate, and ian is an exceptional photographer willing to share his advice and enable you to capture amazing photos. highly recommend.”

“I recently attended a Serpentine Expedition to Sonora, Mexico and it was one of the most incredible experiences in my life. The knowledge the guides contained and shared with the group was immense. It’s clear the guides are passionate about observing these incredible animals in their habitat and sharing that experiences with others. This retreat took my knowledge of snakes to the next level. I was taught how to handle new snake species, how to identify the, and how to be safe around venomous snakes. I look forward to attending more expeditions in the future and would highly recommend attending a Serpentine Expedition trip.”

“Attending the Serpentine Expeditions 2025 Sonora Trip was one of the most exciting and educational outings I had ever experienced. I felt safe, included, and part of a team. Any underlying questions or concerns in regards to travel, security and planning were addressed thoroughly and in advance. Having guides with excitement, knowledge and inclusion was exemplary, and I was lucky to have a group of people each just as excited and curious as I was about the geography, history and respect of Sonora, Mexico. I believe the number of attendees (13) was a perfect limit for housing, transportation and travel. My only suggestion would be to extend the days from 6 to 10 (if possible) as to have more time to explore each zone more thoroughly. I recommend Ian and his team at Serpentine Expeditions to anyone, layman or expert, interested in seeing and examining some of the worlds' most beautiful herpetofauna.”
